My Forever Valentines.....

So Valentines came and went this week.

I have to admit that Stacey and I don't do anything to celebrate but that's our choice.

He says it's Valentines day every day of the week.....I beg to differ! (err where are my flowers??!)

He's still my bestie though!

I found an amazing old Valentines Card in my box yesterday which I didn't realise that I had. It's so lovely. A bit dog eared, mildewed and musty......but perfect! I can't date it which is a bit annoying. Maybe early 1900's? Hallmark ran it's first line of Valentines cards in 1915 and this is definitely British from the mark on the back. That's my only clue.

'From your Valentine with love' are the words inside. I wonder who the couple were.

I also wanted to share some of my lovely newly weds from the past that are squirreled away in my stash.

All different eras, all different types of people.

Such personal photographs that would have been treasured.

I wonder how long they were married for. Were they happy? Did they have children? How did they live? Was life hard? What did their journey teach them? Did they get through the tough times?

What's the reality behind these beautiful photos? Sadly I'll never know.

But I'm happy to look at them and make up my own story. I'd like to think that they were married for 50+ years with a big happy family and a content life. Lots of laughter and fun.

I still see old couples now, hand in hand in the street. Taking care of each other and still looking very much in love. I always think what an achievement that is to have spent so long with each other. That's proper dedication and hard work. They should be an inspiration to us all!

It's easy to take those you love for granted. Make sure you give them a big hug today. Tell them you love them and be thankful every day that they are in your life. I know that I am.
